DI TNC1 Rat Type 1 Astrocyte Cell Line (ATCC CRL-2005)
DI TNC1 (ATCC CRL-2005) is an immortalized rat type 1 astrocyte cell line established from primary cultures of diencephalon tissue of 1-day-old rats. Cells were transfected with an SV40 early region construct under the GFAP promoter and retain type 1 astrocyte characteristics such as GFAP immunoreactivity and high-affinity GABA uptake.

- Immortalized via SV40 early region under GFAP promoter.
- Retains GFAP immunoreactivity and type 1 astrocyte phenotype.
- High-affinity GABA uptake inhibitable by beta-alanine.
- Adherent growth suitable for monolayer culture.
- Culture in Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium with 10% fetal bovine serum at 37°C and 5% CO2.
- Cryopreserve in medium with 5% dimethyl sulfoxide; store in liquid nitrogen vapor.
- Mycoplasma not detected in tested stocks.
